PARALLELS BETWEEN THE ART MOVEMENTS AND TYPOGRAPHY IN THE XIX CENTURY

When investigating the origins of the modern typography, from the end of the century this work finds parallels with the artistic movements that had originated as answers of social-economic transformations of that period. A parcel of the intellectual society resented that a degradation has brought to the society and the arts. The typography suffers great change, leaving the artisan and starting to be industry. There are also some factors that will give origin to the Design as a professional and education activity. It was initiated from the Industrial Revolution and camped the traditional activities of the medieval craftsman. We look for to establish a relation between these areas through the complex dialogues around art and technology of century XIX.
